The Need for Secure Software For Financial Service Providers
There is no industry with a greater need and greater requirement for information security assurance than the financial services industry. As the threat to confidentiality and data integrity becomes increasingly apparent, regulators worldwide are turning their attention to the need for application security. As a result, financial organizations can no longer rely on network security technologies to protect against threats to application-level vulnerabilities, but must now address the need for software vulnerability assessment and secure programming best practices in order to minimize the risk presented by the applications themselves.
This paper will examine regulations such as GLBA, Basel II, and Sarbanes-Oxley and how they are now requiring financial institutions to implement information safeguards, including the ability to analyze, report on, and manage the security of application source code.
