OUNCE LABS’ LEADING SOURCE CODE ANALYSIS SOLUTION RECEIVES TOP HONORS FOR FEATURES, PERFORMANCE AND VALUE FROM SC MAGAZINE

Independent Test Awards Ounce 5.0 with a 4 Star Rating

Waltham, Mass.April 15, 2008 – Ounce Labs™, the industry leader in software risk analysis, today announced that the company’s source code analysis solution has been awarded top honors in the Features, Performance and Value categories by SC Magazine.  Ounce 5.0 received 27 out of a possible 30 stars and 4 out of 5 stars for its overall rating in a recent independent review of Web application vulnerability analysis products.

As a result of highly publicized data breaches and increasingly stringent compliance regulations, application security is quickly becoming a top priority for security and compliance officers. This is leading to what the SC Magazine review characterizes as a “maturing of the application vulnerability assessment products.” Given the continued shift away from perimeter-based attacks, organizations are scrambling to secure the application layer. “Regulatory compliance mandates, such as PCI-DSS and even greater industry awareness have created an elevated level of interest in taking the proper steps to secure external facing applications and critical databases,” the article states.

In reporting the results of the Ounce 5.0 review, the author said, “in our testing, the product performed very well and found numerous vulnerabilities in our test source code.” In addition to “very detailed technical results,” Ounce 5.0 offers “good performance with many useful features.” Ounce 5.0 is “a good addition to any software development lifecycle and a solid value for the price,” the review concludes.

“We’re  pleased that a highly respected security publication like SC Magazine has further validated the value a we provide our customers in protecting their critical applications ,” said Hugh Scandrett, president and CEO of Ounce Labs. “As one of the leading solution providers in this market, we’ve seen firsthand the  increased demand for application security products over the past 12 months. You don’t need to look beyond the daily newspaper to see how important it is for organizations to secure all their critical business applications and we’re proud that Ounce 5.0 has been recognized as a top solution.”
